Our history

From making molds to producing millions of parts a year, our history is closely linked to our motivation to always do better. Today, more than 150 employees are committed to their work, embodying the values of mutual help and support that have naturally been embedded in our company. We are privileged to be able to count on a solid, multi-talented team. From day one, GLP has focused on the importance of a job well done, and we continue to make it one of our top priorities every day.

Highlights of our journey

1976

Acquisition of first assets

Serge Gagné acquires Canada Steel Molds, a division of American Biltrite specializing in mold manufacturing. He founds Industries GLP with two other shareholders (Gagné – L’Heureux – Poulin). They specialize in the design and manufacturing of molds.

1977

The first injection presses

To better meet its customers’ needs, GLP acquires two injection molding presses. With these presses, fine-tuning and final adjustment of molds can now be carried out on site. This acquisition also offers the opportunity to start producing parts in small quantities for specific situations. Demand is growing rapidly, and more presses are soon to be added.

1985

A new building—and a new company

Production of plastic parts continues to grow, and GLP has the wind in its sails. The company’s strong growth in recent years prompted its managers to acquire a second building and set up a second company. This new space and new company are entirely dedicated to thermoplastic injection molding.

1990

GLP Hi-Tech

With the same vision of offering a complete service to his customers, Mr. Gagné merges both companies under one roof and adds an engineering department. Les Industries
GLP becomes Groupe GLP Hi-Tech. Restructured, the company modernizes its equipment and software, quickly carving out an enviable place for itself in the industry. Customers grow in number and scope.

1993

Innovation and know-how

Major investments over the past few years and the hiring of new staff have backed the development of new techniques and unique know-how. A leader in its field, GLP is developing overmolding techniques for electrical insulator products which will be patented.

2006

An additional 13,000 sq. ft.

GLP is growing fast, and is once again running out of space. The company adds 13,000 sq. ft. to its plant. This additional space is entirely dedicated to injection molding. The company is increasing its production capacity, and the trust built up with each of its customers is an immense source of pride.

2010

Prototype molding

Our team of engineers has designed and developed an innovative technology that makes it possible to manufacture injection-molded prototype parts. The new prototyping service is now available, and the response is immediate! One contract follows another. This new service enables GLP to optimize its performance and range of services further.

2013

StepOne is launched

Prototype molding is refined and becomes a brand in its own right: this is the launch of StepOne. This technology enables the production of prototypes in genuine molded thermoplastics, without any investment in mold making. Space shortages return, and a 20,000 ft2 expansion is added to the existing surface area.

2014

Acquisition and investment

GLP acquires Brasmold, a company specializing in mold texturing. The name “Brasmold” is retained and becomes the brand name for this new technology within the company. GLP continues to invest in new injection molding presses, bringing its capacity up to 1,000 tons.

2015

More space and bigger facilities

As the company continues to grow, more space is needed. A 45,000 ft2 warehouse is added to meet the need for parts and mold storage. From 2015 to 2017, several other pieces of equipment are implemented. These new machines significantly increase production capacity by approximately 25%.

2018

Laser texturing

Mould texturing, which until now has been carried out using a chemical process, has undergone a technological breakthrough with the introduction of laser texturing. Our engineers and technicians are implementing laser texturing technology for our Brasmold brand. Laser texturing offers finishing options not previously possible.

2020

Heavy-duty equipment

Since 2020, GLP has made major investments to support its growth and its vision of offering the best service to its customers. An investment of $3.5 million to expand the plant and an investment of $3 million to add two 1,500-ton capacity injection presses have enabled the company to maintain its leadership position and increase its molding capacity by 15%.

2023

A new warehouse

Molding capacity having been increased in recent years, the acquisition of an 83,000 ft2 building became necessary to store the finished products and raw materials used in production.

Giving back: It’s in our nature

In addition to our corporate activities, we are also socially involved in our community, where our values of helping and sharing with others resonate outside our facilities. It’s important for us to give back. We are thrilled to contribute to the mission of several organizations, including the Fondation Santé Haut-Richelieu, the Société St-Vincent-de-Paul, L’Étoile pédiatrie sociale, the Fondation Cégep de St-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Cure for Breast Cancer Day.
